For an unforgettable cultural experience, it is only a 20-minute drive into San Jose del Cabo's Historic Art District, where you can wander for hours along colorful cobblestone streets. Enjoy local food and live music while dipping in and out of the endless boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries. Don't miss the Art Walk, which happens every Thursday night.


Take a scenic drive up the East Cape. The paved highway ends about 5 miles north. From there on, the road is dirt, the terrain is rugged, and the scenery is unreal. You can go for hours or take a short drive. There are some important things to consider if you add the East Cape Highway to your itinerary, as you will be heading into a very remote area.  Plan ahead.
There are no gas stations or markets along this stretch of road between San Jose del Cabo and Los Barilles, so ensure you have plenty of gas and drinking water before heading out.
You will need pesos for many of the businesses.
Cell service is almost non-existent, so make any important calls, texts or emails before leaving the house.
The “highway” is an ungraded, bumpy dirt road. Consider renting a higher clearance vehicle.


This rapidly growing city is the tourism epicenter of Los Cabos. The streets are packed with restaurants, shopping, bars, and nightclubs. If you're looking for an exciting nightlife, this is the place. Cabo San Lucas is well known for having some of the world's finest resorts and most luxurious yachts, but this vibrant city is famous for its iconic landmark, Lands End. It is well worth the 1-hour drive and hiring a boat to get a close-up look at the spectacular natural rock formations and sea lion colony at Lands End.

If you are visiting in the Winter months, December - March, be sure to add a whale watching excursion to your itinerary. A few go out of the nearby Puerto Los Cabos Marina. Salty Cabo Excursions or East Cape Explorers offer private or group tours. You will want to book in advance as they will sell out during peak season. Many other whale-watching operations also depart from the Cabo San Lucas MarinaCabo Pulmo and La Paz


There are many excellent surf spots nearby on the East Cape. It's just a 10-minute drive to Shipwreck, 15 minutes to La Fortuna, 20 minutes to Nine Palms, or head 30-40 minutes into San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas to surf Zippers, The Rock, or Monuments, to name a few.

Over a dozen world-class golf courses are within a 15-60 minute drive from Casa Moonshine. Perfect temperatures, gorgeous landscapes, and legendary course designers are why Los Cabos is considered a golfer's paradise to many who love to play the game.

The closest golf course is Puerto Los Cabos, a beautiful 27-hole course. Rates include 18 holes with a cart, practice facilities, plus all food and beverage during your round.


Baja Ride Off Road Adventures offers half-day, full-day, or multi-day guided tours in the Baja backcountry.  Explore the roads less travelled on two or four wheels, from the sandy arroyos and beaches to the mountain trails and desolate ranch roads.  Based nearby in San Jose del Cabo.
